Whats Going On..

Voting for a new Corpsmember Advisory Board should be happening this week. Check back for those who were nominated.

As of June 8, 2010 we have one crew out in San Diego, the Mobile Spray Crew.

On June 3, 2010 Camarillo Center and John Muir Charter School had another Graduation. Congratulations to those who graduated.

For the month of February the Camarillo Center had 40 Corpsmembers who volunteered their time accumulating a total of 463 volunteer hours for that month alone. We had on Corpsmember who stood out the most volunteering 30 hours of his time in one month. Special thanks to Carlos Villanueva for volunteering his time.

On 1/16/2010 Camarillo Center hosted a United Blood Service blood Drive. We had about 15 Corpsmembers who donated blood. The United Blood Service provided a Blood Mobile that came out to the center. To see more click on the pictures link on the left for pictures of the event.

On 1/16/2010 The Camarillo Center had 4 volunteers along with 1 staff member help out at a local Church on a Community Garden called the Community Roots Garden out in Oxnard. They created a bed to plant cabbage. Click on the picture link to the left to see more of this event.

Since 1/12/2010 Camarillo Center has been doing a Hazwopper Training (Oil Spill). Corpsmembers are involved along with a few staff members.

About Us


History of our Center

The Camarillo Center was first established as a residential center on the grounds of the Camarillo State Hospital and Developmental Center in September of 1977. The facility is now Cal State University Channel Islands. It was the third center of the California Conservation Corps to be established. The Camarillo Center currently has an expected Corpsmember strength of 60 Corpsmembers. Camarillo covers all of Ventura County, South Santa Barbara County and portions of West Los Angeles County.

Recently moved to Oxnard temporarily till our new state of the art center is built back in Camarillo. 

 

Our Mission

 The California Conservation Corps is a workforce development program that offers young men and women the chance to serve their state and become employable citizens through life skills training and hard work in environmental conservation, fire protection, and emergency services.
